Appearance: Cliff Hale is a tall individual and has a decent amount of muscle of his body, mainly his arms and legs from hiking steep trails, and hauling logs. Hale’s scars are from animals, and limbs that scratched him, while he was out trapping. He also has a well sculpted chin with a short but very full beard. Cliff Hale wears a Carhartt jacket with Sherpa lining, under the jacket he generally wears a thick long-sleeved t-shirt. Though he is generally seen in jeans he also wears pants similar to those worn by military personnel, since they dry fast and provide enough protection from thorny bushes.
*Uniform:When on duty Cliff Hale changes into a SHIELD uniform that has its colors slightly modified to signify that he is a Tank. The uniform is equipped with SHIELD technology and weapons. It is energy absorbent so that his powers can work through the uniform. The uniform is also bullet resistant to most small arms fire.
Power Corrupts Absolutely
Power Origin: Mutant
Powers: Cliff Hale is able to redirect any type of kinetic energy directed at him. This means that if anything moving at any velocity hits him, he can redirect it. His power does have limits such that his range is limited to about a thirty-five meter radius, that means that if gets hit from say an energy beam that hits him from two-hundred meters, he can only redirect the energy from that beam to thirty-five meters around him because the energy dissipates quickly after he redirects it.
WeaknessesHowever Cliff Hale is bad figuring out where he redirects the force, and will randomly redirect the force wherever he feels at the time. This has lead to some very nasty instances where he will redirect the recoil of his rifle and then a branch will hit him, so he’ll redirect that and then another branch will hit him and this can go on for hours until he grows weary and decides to head home. Thankfully the Tank chip helps to eliminate that problem. Though he isn’t immune to telepaths he is resistant due to SHIELD training. He can only redirect kinetic energy, so that if he is trapped in an environment that is too hot or cold he will die. He still takes damage from any energy he redirects though it’s lessened by his powers, if he takes too much damage too fast, he will die. If he doesn’t redirect the energy at once he will take the full damage of the hit.
Getting to the Root of the Problem
Personality:Cliff Hale is a light hearted soul. He can laugh and drink and gets along with pretty much everyone. He can tell a good story and laughs heartily at any joke. He is also very helpful, if see’s that someone is having trouble he’ll have no qualms about stopping what he’s doing and help out.
Cliff is one of those that if he’s not chopping wood or out gathering food, then he better be out with friends or sleeping. He just isn’t happy unless he’s outside working with his hands. He also sees items such as video games, and television as a waste of time. He believes that since there are only so many hours in a day if anyone is wasting it watching tv. Then how can they find time to warm the house or be working on the ATV so you can catch food. Cliff is a busy body that simply loves to either be alone with a broken motor, or in a bar with everybody he knows.

- John Hale(active)
Background: Cliff Hale was born in a local hospital in Ottawa, Canada. Though he was born three weeks early, the doctors and nurses were surprised at how well developed he was and gave him a clean bill of health. This hospital later became almost a second home to Hale for how many times he hurt himself, such as the time when he was eight and was climbing a tree, he got to the second branch from the top and fell nearly 30 meters. Though he broke his arm those that worked on him were surprised at how little damage he took considering how hard he landed. Then at twelve, he was attacked by a rabid raccoon, and had to be tested for rabies, and was made to stay for a week for observation. This was the time his father started to teach his son about how to live out in the woods without anyone there for support.
These lessons lasted nearly seven years, and Cliff Hale had gotten so comfortable at being alone in the woods he would disappear for days and actually stayed out for two whole weeks, this worried his parents so much that they called the Canadian Mounted Police to find him. After, a two hour search they found him only two-hundred meters from his house living in a lean-to made of fallen branches and leaves and he even had a fire going and two squirrels were cooking for his lunch. At first Cliff was worried that they were going to arrest him for killing wildlife without a license, but seeing as how he was only fourteen at the time they cut him some slack and told him to not stay out in the woods past nightfall as punishment. This upset Hale greatly, but, his father was so proud of him that he let young Cliff polish the family gun, a 1826 Baker rifle used by the British army, this rifle was passed down from Cliff’s great-great grandfather all the way down to Cliff’s father. Since, Cliff did such a nice job on polishing the rifle, John decided that Cliff should be allowed to hunt deer with that rifle to see how Cliff felt about the gun.
While out hunting for the deer a another hunter mistakenly mistook Cliff for being a deer since Cliff was wearing brown and just bent over to take a closer look at some tracks. The shot rang out and the bullet hit Cliff, but to Cliff’s horror the bullet hit John instead though there was a clear impact wound on Cliff’s chest, horrified that his father might die, Cliff threw his father on the ATV and drove as fast as he could to the nearest hospital and agonizing two-hour drive away. However, as they got closer to the hospital it seemed as if John was getting better, this was when John told Cliff he was a mutant, and that John had the ability to heal wounds over a very long time but faster than normal. John also confessed that Cliff was a mutant as well since though he fell out of a tree it seemed that a rock close had a split in it, and that the raccoon looked a lot worse for wear then Cliff did after getting mauled by the thing. Cliff then decided that he must control his power so that it can’t hurt anyone. John pointed out that though there were people that did just that Cliff would have to move to America and go live in a city.
Cliff didn’t like that idea, until he turned eighteen and a burglar smashed into the Hale house, after Cliff and John subdued the man, the man revealed that he was supposed to kill them all since they were mutants. Cliff didn’t like that idea at all and shot the man with a revolver. Cliff felt so horrified about killing someone he actually left town that night and moved to New York City, his parents covered for him saying it was self defense and so no charges were pressed. Still feeling guilty about what happened he turned to the first people that would accept him and help control his powers, those people were part of the Tanks. Cliff even enjoyed the idea of a neutralizing chip, and now considers the Tanks to be a part of family.
