Main Plot
Not very long ago, in a city that is known for its diversity, a war between mutants and humans and the Brotherhood and X-Men erupted and threatened to consume humanity. The X-Men fought and overtook the Brotherhood in a surprise defeat. Pushing the Brotherhood back to their island nation of Genosha, the X-Men began the painstaking process of repairing the torn relations between the frightened humans and the weary and jaded mutant population. Two short years later, the fractured relations between the humans and mutants is back to the humans fearing what the mutants can do but not willing to fight with the other race.
Since the defeat of the Brotherhood, many changes from both groups of mutants have been made. The original, experienced X-Men have opted to step back and teach the next generation of X-Men. The original group is now known as the Elite team and is only called on in moments of absolute need and now teaches the new generation of young, talented mutants at the Institute. The former students have stepped up and, along with new faces, have filled the ranks of active X-Men even as the newest generation enters the school, thirsty for knowledge.
While the X-Men have been restoring their ranks, the Brotherhood has not been idle. Magneto continues to gather recruits on the isolated island of Genosha. As it is a “no-fly” zone for many other nations, no one is quite sure how many mutants have amassed on the island. Officially, the nation of Genosha has no connection with the Brotherhood, although many high-ranking officials on the island are 'former' Brotherhood members.
Recently, there have been reports of state buildings crumbling around the United States at around the same time that have reached the President’s ears. With mutants caught on camera as the perpetrators, alarms have been sounding in Washington D.C amongst the different government groups. Some eye-witnesses have been going to the media about a government conspiracy. Despite this, there were secret meetings called to discuss the problem and a possible solution and next move for the government. Lasting for days, the secret conference yielded a plan that quickly gained the support of the populace.
The plan was called Operation: Zero Tolerance. The failings of Bolivar Trask would be looked at again and reevaluated to make useful. The Mark II sentinels would be deployed as a monitoring system for mutants. If any mutant activity that was illegal was detected, any mutant involved with the illicit activities would be hunted, captured, and contained.
Meanwhile, the UN had been working on their own solution to the 'mutant menace'. They debuted the Tank program; the result of several years of top-secret research. It allows mutants to access the full potential of their powers immediately, without need for years of training and discipline. The neurosurgery controlling the process is offered, free of charge, to any mutant of any age...as long as they are willing to work for the Tank program. Tanks are only permitted to use their new, enhanced powers for UN-sanctioned assignments, focused on stopping and apprehending rogue mutant activity.
It is the world's hope that these measures, and more to come, will be enough to curtail the new spread of mutant criminal activity. Anti-mutant sentiment is high, and many fear that any major events may push people into rioting and hate crimes.
So, what will it be? Will you join the victorious X-Men in their quest for peace amongst the races and have your name with the likes of Storm, Professor X, Cyclops and more? Or will you travel down the dark alley ways of the Brotherhood, causing chaos and disorder when the humans let their guard down the most? Or will you go it alone, braving the streets, avoiding trouble, or causing it? Or, even still, will you side with the humans and try to take down the mutant filth? It’s your choice.
