Reese Taylor Navarro
Nickname: N/A
Codename: Shim
Preferred name: Reese

Marital Status: Single. His playing dress-up all the time tends to scare potential dates away
Birthplace: San Fransisco
Current Residence: Hellcarrier
DOB: July 1
Age: 19
Occupation: Full-time Tank, part-time teenage girl
Species: Mutant
Affiliation: Tank
Shown in the Light of Day
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 151 lbs.
Hair color: Light brown
Eye color: Blue
Identifying features: Dressed as a boy, it's definitely the hair. Dressed as a girl, the Adam's Apple tends to cause some confusion.
Appearance:
Reese is a very effeminate boy that normally dresses as a girl. He's on the short side for boys but can easily pass for a tall girl. Once he realized he could pass for a girl with his facial features, Reese did everything he could to make his body more girl-like. It didn't take much since he was naturally on the slim side. Reese's hair is shoulder length and Reese takes immaculate care with it and has it styled in a girl's fashion.
Reese dresses more like a girl than a guy, so his wardrobe is similar to that of a teenage girl's. In fact, probably the only guy clothes he owns are sweatpants, a few t-shirts, and one suit. Reese normally dresses in typical girl clothes and has no qualms about trading clothes with other girls. The only type of clothes he will avoid is tight, form-fitting clothes because it makes it harder to pass. Reese loves wearing and experimenting with make-up, as it make him more girl-like.
*Uniform:
Reese wears a more fabulous version of the SHIELD uniform. The uniform is navy-blue with orange accents but the orange accents have long been covered up by navy sequins. The neck of the uniform is decorated by sequins as well. Yes, Reese likes sequins. For undercover missions, Reese will use whatever means at his disposal to come up with the perfect uniform because that usually means....SHOPPING!
Power Corrupts Absolutely
Power Origin: Mutant with Tank Enhancements.
Powers:
Pipedream- Pipedream is the ability to put people in dream-like trances, where he can control the dream and the mood. As long as Reese has at least one finger touching the person he is putting under, he can maintain the trance as long as he wants. If he repeatedly puts a person under a trance, it takes a shorter amount of time and becomes easier with each time. Reese can put as many people under at one time, as long as he has physical contact with each person but the dream for all of them will be the same. Reese can also make a person follow his commands if they are under a dream-like trance by making them believe they want to do it.
Vertigo-Vertigo causes waves of confusion and can often make another mutant sick. If done to a human, the side-effects can possibly be deadly. Reese will release his power of vertigo normally from a distance, as the closer it is to the target, the greater effect it has. Vertigo is usually used as a distraction technique for Reese to either retreat or get close enough to his target to put his target under pipedream.
Weaknesses:
To put his opponent under pipedream, Reese needs to be in physical contact with his opponent. It's a difficult task to achieve, especially when his opponents are dodging and moving around. It's even harder to achieve when his opponents are long-range fighters. Reese's powers are definitely more suited for subtly.
Reese can also be easily distracted in a fight, especially if his opponents have a horrible fashion sense (which most of them do). He likes to make little barbed comments about their clothing choices and how out of fashion they are.
He also hates getting his own uniform and clothes dirty, which can also lead to distraction during a fight. If Reese's uniform gets torn or damaged, he can easily turn into a whiny little b****
Reese is also a horrible loser and losing tends to make him short-tempered and irrational. A few times he has come close to using his powers outside of missions just because he hates losing that much. He will do whatever it takes to win but hey, that's the side-effect of growing up with older brothers.
Reese also has some issues with identity-crisis. He's never sure how to interact with others when he's in his boy form, since he's not used to being in that persona. He also has a tendency to panic when others find out about his masquerade as he's not sure how they'll react, but he can usually keep that contained and play off his nervousness.
Getting to the Root of the Problem
Personality:
Reese is generally very easy-going and loves to laze around, flipping through magazines or chatting with other people. Reese is often overdramatic, taking advantage of the acting skills he picked up when he was learning to pass as a girl. Reese takes great amusement in confusing people, often playing games with himself to see how long it will take for others to realize that one, he's not actually a girl and two, he's actually straight.
Reese can be quite manipulative. Before he became part of the Tank program, Reese had no qualms about using his powers to gain the upper hand in the situation. Since he joined the Tank program, Reese relies more on manipulating people mentally or making deals that always ensure he comes out on the winning side. Reese is generally good-hearted but the thing he hates most is to lose and can be quite the sore loser.
Reese also has the tendency to panic easily in situations where he's uncomfortable or is being forced to do something he doesn't want to do. Reese is more comfortable dressing like a girl and acting like a girl, so as long as he looks like a girl, he's generally safe. He tends to panic more when he is forced to dress like a boy.
Family:
- Mother: Lisbeth Annette Navarro
- Father: William Landon Navarro
- Siblings: Theodore William Navarro, James Fredrick Navarro, Gregory Tyler Navarro (all older brothers)
Background:
Reese is the youngest of four sons. When he was born, his mother was devastated because she had given birth to yet another boy and had been told by doctors that she wouldn't be able to get pregnant again. Reese's mother was a stay-at-home mother and was very active in raising him. As he grew up, Lisbeth could tell that he would never be overly athletic like her other sons, who excelled in their chosen sports. At first she didn't do anything but when it became clear that William wasn't going to pay attention to Reese if he wasn't going to be the perfect son (in William's mind that meant excellent at academics and involved in every sport possible and popular with the girls), she started discouraging Reese away from sports and encouraged him to do things that were considered more "girl-like" such as cooking and playing with dolls.
By the time Reese started school, Reese already acted more like a little girl than a little boy. At first it confused and surprised his teachers but they soon grew to adore him since he was perfectly well-mannered. Reese became popular with the girls in school but not in the way his father wanted. The other boys were jealous of him and teased him constantly. At home, Reese was also teased by his brothers.
As Reese got older, the teasing only grew worse. Eventually the novelty of him dressing and acting like a girl wore off and as he entered middle school, even the girls he was previously friends with began to tease him slightly. The slurs became harsher and more derogatory as time wore on. Still, Reese didn't stop cross-dressing as dressing like a girl felt more natural for him. His mother continued to dote upon Reese and treat him like the daughter she never had. She taught Reese the joy of shopping and everything about being a girl until it got to the point where Reese could pass effortlessly as a female.
On the first day of high school, some seniors discovered Reese's secret from one of his older brothers and decided that what he did wasn't acceptable. After school, Reese was dragged into a classroom, where he was poked and prodded, which led to kicks and punches. In a panic, Reese felt something flow out of his body and all of a sudden, the group of seniors were vomiting and clutching their heads because they had suddenly developed migraines. The ones that had been watching and standing off to the side seemed confused but Reese didn't stick around to figure out what happened. Instead, he fled.
This happened a few more times before people finally figured out that Reese was somehow dangerous. Then they started to leave him alone, only muttering a few comments when he was in earshot.
Once the bullying lessened up, Reese found that he enjoyed the power he had over everyone. He no longer was a constant loser in the game of life. For once, he was winning. This attitude carried over into every day life until it became such that Reese would no longer settle for losing. He had to win at everything he did. Reese began to excel academically, driven to be the top of his class and, at the end of his freshmen year, threw a large temper tantrum when he ended up being second in his class. The only one in his family that knew how to deal with Reese's tantrums was his mother, who also happened to be a mutant. She had picked up on, from the stories her other sons had told her about what happened at school, that Reese was most likely a mutant like her. So when he threw his temper tantrum, she decided to reveal her power in the form of relaxing Reese. Once she was certain that Reese was calm, she sent the rest of the family out for dinner and explained everything about her powers and mutants.
Over the summer, when Reese's father was at work and his brother were playing sports, Reese and his mother worked on developing his powers. Through experimentation, they revealed that he shared a power similar to his mother's which enabled him to put people in a dream-like trance. When Reese returned to school, he began using his powers to help him get ahead and to avoid further bullying.
It was in the middle of Reese's junior year when the Tank Program discovered him. They had heard the rumors and had come to investigate and possibly recruit Reese. After some initial hesitations and misgivings, Reese agreed to join the Tank program as he wanted full access to his powers, even if he wouldn't be able to use them like he had been. However, when the Tank Program relocated him, Reese was very vocal about how unhappy he was to be missing his junior prom. He had the perfect dress after all.
The Tank program kept Reese out west until he was legally an adult. Then they began giving him assignments that were further away from California. Reese was briefly relocated to Chicago where he was put on a long-term assignment and then, shortly after his nineteenth birthday, Reese's superiors announced that he was permanently being relocated to New York, to which Reese readily agreed.
