Pale, pale blue, often described as the color of ice
Identifying features:
Her hair, as its color stands out amongst others, and her skin is very pale.
Appearance:
Her skin is paler than most, and is ice-cold to the touch. Snow is very small for her age, in height and in weight. This comes from her high metabolism that her race (Elementals) naturally possesses. She mostly wears jeans and sweaters/long-sleeved shirts no matter the weather because she is always cold (side-effect of her power). She always goes out in knee-high water-proof hiking boots. She often is wearing non-fingered gloves that reach her elbow. She mostly wears her hair down, or in a side braid. You won’t catch her styling it in much else, as she doesn’t really care for fashion or looks.

Power Corrupts Absolutely
Power Origin:
Non-Human
Powers:
To put it simply, Snow can control water/ice. Her powers include being able to
freeze/unfreeze items
- Freezing and unfreezing items takes the least amount of power, but probably the most amount of time. The amount of time it takes to unfreeze a bottle of water that's been sitting in the freezer for too long greatly differs from the amount of time it would take to unfreeze a human being. Such applies for the freezing of an item as well. The larger the object, the more time and power it takes to unfreeze/freeze. She does this through 'water bending'. She cannot freeze a human being unless at full power, and even then it would take hours to freeze them. Now, she could ‘freeze’ them if they were coated in water. She could simply freeze the water, but any strong human/mutant would be able to quickly break out. Snow can move water into shapes, and freeze them, therefore creating ice sculptures or ice shields, etc. etc.
create a blizzard
- The power Snow gets her codename from, and also her most powerful. Snow can create blizzards. At full strength, she can create a blizzard that will last for days. The size and power of the blizzard depends on the power she can exert.
Take, for instance, she has been fighting with her bending for a while. If she were to create a blizzard, it would be weak and only over a small area. Plus, it would most likely use up the rest of her strength as well. However, if she was to enter a battle completely and fully refreshed and at full power, she could create a blizzard over a large area that would be fairly strong. In this same sense, she could create a blizzard over a small area that would definitely rival some of nature's most powerful blizzards. The down side on creating a blizzard that powerful would be the utter lack of strength afterwards. Snow would most likely not be able to create a blizzard that strong for months afterwards. She would not be able to even use her blizzards for a couple of days, if not a week or two, no matter how small the blizzard would be.
On one hand, as powerful as this blizzard would be, if per-say, it was in the middle of summer, she would not be able to keep it up for long due to the snow's inability to stick to the ground and her weaker state during the hot months.
On the other hand, if she were to create a blizzard in the dead of winter with snow already on the ground, she would be able to keep up the blizzard for hours, and then because of the circumstances, the blizzard would most likely stay after she stops creating it (if at a weaker state) because of the snow on the ground fueling it.
Temperature control
- Not really a power, it is just somewhat of a side-effect of her power. The air within a ten foot radius is always about 50 degrees Fahrenheit, the closer you get to her, the colder it becomes until within a two foot radius, it is about 30, 32 degrees Fahrenheit. This is what causes her skin to always be cold. This is not something she can control, nor will ever be able to control. During the summer or in hot climates, this warms up by about ten to fifteen degrees.
Above Average Abilities
- Elemental's strength, endurance, speed, and healing factors are more than your average human. Snow is just a little stronger and faster than the humans, can endure longer and harder things than the humans, and heals faster. Her metabolism is very high, which is one reason why she is so skinny. She also ages just a little bit slower. Elemental lifespans are about 120-150 human years. Also, Elementals have photographic memory that starts at about six or seven months old.
Weaknesses:
For obvious reasons, Snow is weaker during the warmer months, and when the sun is at its highest points. During the summer Snow mainly sticks to bending water. Her main weakness though, is Fire. Fire is the one thing that will beat Snow basically every time. Any opponent that has access to immense heat or firepower will most likely be able to beat her when she’s alone. Snow has a huge fear of airplanes, or anything that flies; this is most likely due to the fact of her family crash-landing on Earth. She is susceptible to most things that would harm a human as well. Also, she has found that she is allergic to peppers and tomatoes.
Getting to the Root of the Problem
Personality:
Snow has a very light-hearted, easy going personality. She's very shy, but will open up more once you get to know her. Snow is an optimist, and tries to always look at the bright side of things. She is also a very curious person, often getting into things she shouldn't.
She is very indecisive, often changing her mind four to five times before deciding on one choice. However, when she does finally decide on something, she'll stick with it to the end, as she is also a very stubborn person.
Snow doesn't get mad easily, as her anger will build for a while, and then suddenly be there when you least expect it. And it could go on for days, much like a blizzard. She is sensitive, so snide remarks and rude comments will hurt her deeply. This, paired with her photographic memory and stubbornness makes it hard for her to forgive people. Often she will hold grudges for weeks or even months before finally thawing out.
Growing up on the streets of London and losing her guardian has hardened her to some extent. She can be very serious and protective of things, and will go into 'survival mode'---a mode in which she instantly thinks only of herself or those on her team, and will do anything to either win the situation or get out in the safest way possible.
Family:
- Lliant (mother) ((DECEASED))
- Glaw (father) ((DECEASED))
- Ariantan (mother-like nanny) ((DECEASED))
- Haydn (brother) ((Presumed dead))
Background:
Eira is from the planet Eorith, a planet much like Earth. On Eorith, the people are called "Elementals" this derives from the fact that all have powers deriving from nature' elements. There she was born to her parents, Lliant and Glaw, who were both water Elementals; Lliant being floods, and Glaw being rainstorms. She had one other sibling, a brother name Hadyn whose control was that of fire. Her parents were scientists on Eorith, and were part of a group that looked for a world much like theirs. They were often away at meetings and conferences and expeditions.
During this time, Eira and Hadyn were watched by their parent's dear friend Ariantan, a gold Elemental. Eira was only a month or two old, and Hadyn was not even a year old yet (Elemental gestation periods are 3 months). When Eira was almost four months old, her parents discovered Earth and immediately wanted to take an expedition there. Lliant, Glaw, Hadyn, Eira and Ariantan boarded a spaceship soon after, and set off for Earth.
The travel time took about two months, in which Ariantan watched the children while the parents studied more about Earth. Upon coming into Earth's gravitational pull, her parents realized they'd been wrong in their calculations and that the ship was not strong enough to control where it went against gravity. The ship was sucked into the Earth's pull and crashed into Norway near the border to Sweden. Her parents were killed in the crash, but Eira and Ariantan survived. Unbeknownst to them, Hadyn also survived the crashed, but was presumed dead when Ariantan could not find him, as he had been thrown from the ship in the crash.
Ariantan gathered all the jewels and rich things she could find, as they had brought them in the hopes that the humans used them to buy things, as they did on Eorith. She then set out to find shelter and food. Ariantan quickly picked up the Swedish, Finnish, and Norwegian languages, moving constantly from each country. Unknowingly, Eira did too.
When Eira was a year and a half old, about a year after the accident, they moved to England. Ariantan had pawned some of their jewels for money allowing for forged I.D. cards and passports and such. However, Ariantan let Eira grow up on the streets, purposefully making her street smart and teaching her the basic fighting skills. Over the next couple of years Ariantan taught Eira everything she knew, from random facts about Eorith to surviving on her own in the human world.
Eira learned everything a normal human child would know, as well as everything an Eorith child would know. When she was old enough and her powers started developing (about seven years old) they moved to Switzerland in a small secluded mansion. There they stayed until Eira was about ten, learning to master her powers. From there they moved around to Germany for a year, France for a few months, Czech for a year, and then Poland for a few months. In every place they went, Eira would learn to fluently speak, understand and write each language spoken in that place, as well as the currency, customs and history of the country. They moved back to England when Eira was about 13 1/2. Throughout all of this, Eira never lost the thick English accent she'd gained as a child, though it did begin to have a faint German/Czech taint to it.
A month before Eira 14th birthday, Ariantan began to get very, very, sick. It turned out she hadn't been completely unharmed by the crash, and ever so slowly her organs had been beginning to shut down over the thirteen years on Earth. Right after Eira's 14th birthday, Ariantan died.
Overcome by grief, Eira couldn't stay in England anymore, and so she moved to the next best thing: Scotland, taking only the jewels she would need to pawn, a suitcase of clothes, and the thick rope-like Snow Crystal necklace her mother, Lliant, had given Eira upon her birth. There Eira lived for almost a year, and then moved to Wales for a month or so. There she began calling herself 'Snow' the closest Welsh translation of her name. After that she moved to Ireland, thinking it far enough away from England. However, only six months after living there, she realized that nowhere in Europe or near Europe would she be safe from the grieving memory of Ariantan.
Eira decided that she needed to go to America, but didn't know how to get there. Because of her fear of being in planes, she couldn't fly there. She found a cargo ship that would leave from Ireland and go to New York. She stowed away on the ship, and for the first little bit all went well. However, she was discovered by one of the passengers and reported to the captain. The captain being a kind man, heard out her story of being an orphan and going to seek a new life in America, and then offered her a job on the ship. She gladly accepted, and spent the rest of the trip working various jobs to pay for food and board. Finally, she arrived in New York right after her 16th birthday. She now resides there, looking for a place to fit in and call home.
No One Likes a Show-Off
Skills:
- Multi-lingual: Snow's intelligence and comprehension is very high, making it easy for her to learn new languages. Snow knows English, Gaelic (Scottish/Irish), German, Czech, Swedish, Swiss, French, Polish, Norwegian, and Finnish. Because she spent most of her life in Europe (mainly England) she has a thick English accent. Also, she has a habit of switching into another language when in an extreme mood (i.e. very angry, excited, depressed etc. etc.).
- Street Smart: Growing up mainly on the streets of London taught Snow to be very street smart. She has good hand to hand combat skills, as that is what is mostly used to solve arguments there. She knows when to back down, and when to protect her territory.
Anything else?:
Snow has always had the suspicion that her brother Hadyn survived the crash, and is constantly checking the news for any stories on an unusual boy with powers.
To Meet Expectations
RP sample:
The sky overhead was marred by clouds that hung in tatters over the snow-covered landscape. A young girl, about seven or eight, stood in the middle of a white field, a look of concentration on her face.
"You've got it Eira! Just think about the water in the snow. Concentrate on it. Picture the snow lifting," Ariantan said. Eira's face wrinkled more as she tried harder to concentrate.
"I can't do it!" Eira said in frustration. She stomped her little foot, and crossed her tiny arms. Ariantan crossed over to Eira from across the field where she had been standing. She knelt down, regardless of the wet snow, and looked Eira in the eyes.
"What am I always telling you?" Ariantan asked.
"Doubters will never blossom," Eira muttered.
"What was that?" Ariantan asked, gesturing for Eira to speak up.
"Doubters will never blossom," Eira said louder. Ariantan playfully tweaked Eira's nose, bringing out a small smile on the seven year old's pouting face.
"That's right. And you're not a doubter. You can do this, alright?" Ariantan said. Eira nodded her head, her pale blond waves bobbing up and down her back. Ariantan backed up to the edge of the field again.
Eira took a deep breath, and stuck out her hand above a section of snow. She let out her breath in a cloudy puff of air, and rose her hand up. Along with it, a part of snow the size of her small fist listed up as well. The higher she lifted her hand, the higher the snow rose.
"I did it!" Eira cried, turning around so that Ariantan could see. Ariantan ran across the field and lifted up Eira in her arms to swing her around.
"I knew you could do it!" Ariantan cried, laughing. Eira joined in on the joyous laughter, and both threw themselves down into the snow. Eira turned to Ariantan.
"I love you Ari," Eira said.
Snow shook herself out of the memory. She couldn't dwell on that right then. That was a different time; a different person. She wasn't Eira anymore. Snow squeezed her eyes shut to block out the hot rush of tears that came with the thought of Ari or her old life. She kept her eyes shut until the tears subsided. Snow then walked up to the deck of the ship. She wasn't going to think about her old life; rather, she'd think about her new life.
"Land ho!" cried the captain, and Snow peered into the fog-covered sea. There, on the horizon, was her new life, her new future. There, in the far distance, lay America.
