Weight: 110 lbs.
Hair color: Red
Eye color: Green
Identifying features: If the hair isn't enough, she has a scar running down her left upper arm and a crescent-shaped birthmark on inside of right wrist
Appearance:
Cheyla's hair is very thick and is waist length and is usually tied back in a braid or a bun. Her skin is slightly tanned, but still on the white side. Her body is very fit and on the leaner, toned side as she is an avid dancer. Cheyla is very much in shape and is very busty. She doesn't care about her scar showing, even though it stands out against her skin significantly.
Cheyla normally wears a blue sports bra, but if the weather is unusually cold or if dress code requires more, she will wear a green tank top over it. Cheyla also normally wears thin black sweatpants but will change into stonewashed flare jeans. At home, Cheyla wears no shoes but when out and about, she wears white tennis shoes if she knows she needs to run or black dancing heels if she's just out casually.
*Uniform:
Cheyla dislikes uniforms and refuses to wear one unless absolutely necessary. If she's forced to wear one, she usually wears a standard X-Men suit with the arms cut off. The adult small was too big so she wears a child's XL. And yes, she hates it.
Power Corrupts Absolutely
Power Origin: Mutant
Powers:
Shadow-merging--Cheyla can merge her body with the shadows and can become a shadow herself. She can hide herself completely within a shadow and not be noticed until she leaves the shadow. This power is ideal for spying and finding out things that Cheyla would normally never find out about.
Illusion-- Cheyla uses the power of illusion to appear as a different person when she herself does not wish to be seen. She either draws or concentrates on the illusion she wants to see and wills for the other person/room of people to see that picture. She can't hold the illusion for very long but its good for brief periods of time.
Weaknesses:
Chey can't hold her illusions for very long as it takes a lot out of her.
The illusions tend to fade in and out if Cheyla's will isn't very strong.
Chey needs large shadows to merge her entire body into the shadow (large enough that her entire body would be hidden naturally, if she wasn't trying to merge). Chey is still unsure how she manages to merge with shadows (she hates theory lessons) so she can't do it all the time. Her best illusions are the drawn illusions, which take time, so her powers aren't exactly the best in combat.
Getting to the Root of the Problem
Personality:
Cheyla is very cautious and wary around people but is very friendly at the same time. The reason for her caution is because she doesn't want to hurt people, like she has in the past. When it comes to her opinions and beliefs, Cheyla is very passionate and stubborn. She rarely changes her opinions on something. She loves to argue and debate with others and go against stereotypes, proving that you can't just assume something about another person.
Cheyla loves to dance and spends a majority of her free time dancing. She is very passionate about it and, when she was younger, wanted to become a professional dancer. Cheyla also loves to swim and finds that being in the water helps her stay focused and keeps her more refreshed. Cheyla is very random at time and has a hard time staying focused for long periods of time. She likes to joke around a lot and has a slight swearing problem.
Family:
- Mother: Sakura Vodalaski-Kayani
- Father: Jaguar Kayani
- Siblings: Malakai Vodalaski (half brother; 22), Micah Kayani (twin brother; 18), Chiara Kayani (sister; 14), Kari Kayani (sister; 10)
Background:
Cheyla was born to Jaguar (1/2 Navajo) and Sakura (1/4 Japanese). She was older than her brother Micah by 20 minutes. Chey and her family grew up near the Navajo reservation, where her grandparents lived. Cheyla grew up learning Navajo, English and Japanese.
Cheyla began to dance when she was three, beginning with ballet. When she was 5, the first freak incident happened. Cheyla had been teased intensively. She grew more and more scared and stressed as the teasing continued. When she ran away into the shadows, no one was able to find her until she calmed down and returned home. Soon after the accident, Cheyla began learning tap.
At the age of 7, Cheyla added jazz lessons to her dancing schedule and began to dance competively. When she was 9, started learning hip-hop. The second freak accident occured the day she turned 10. One of her classmates called her a mutt because she was 1/8 Japanese and 1/4 Navajo. Cheyla imagined herself hurting this classmate and the illusion of what she wanted to do was projected to him.
Cheyla also learned to swim at the age of 7 and found it to be good for relieving her stress. She kept up with swimming all her life and as she grew older, found that the water was good for the numerous injuries and strained muscles she received from dance.
When Cheyla turned 13, she started to learn the different types of ballroom dancing. Instead of doing extra-curriculars in school, she focused her time on dancing and spent most of her time at the local studio. Cheyla never was able to keep a dance partner around for long, wanting to practice much more than her partners wanted to devote time to.
At the age of 16, Cheyla had realized that it was her causing all these accidents and decided to run away, to avoid hurting her family for being a "freak". Cheyla made her way east, stopping at cities along the way. She used her illusions and shadow-merging to avoid attracting attention and to avoid the police that were sent to look for her. She would normally find a dance studio and offer to do some chores around the studio in return for a place to stay and dance. She would never stay in one place for longer than two weeks.
As she traveled further away from home, she began to draw. She had a few art classes in school so she knew the basics and after multiple attempts at practice, she slowly got better. Drawing allowed her an escape from the fact that she was a runaway.
Along her travels, after about a year and a half, Chey ran into a fellow mutant. Before that she was never aware that others like her might exist. The fellow mutant gave her an idea of where to find Professor Xavier and the mansion, and Chey set out with the intention to find them.
On her journey to find Xavier and the Academy, Chey turned 18. As she did, she stopped hiding and moving around from place to place as much. Eventually she found the mansion and was allowed a place to stay. She is currently at the mansion, learning how to control her powers (when she actually shows up to classes. Otherwise she just wanders around New York)

To Meet Expectations
RP sample:
Chey continued to sob, barely aware of the questions being asked about Micah. A phone number? She tried to list it off but the numbers wouldn't come out of her mouth. She tried mouthing them but the sobs quickly broke through. After a few attempts, Chey just gave up.
Chey briefly felt a rumbling in Dani's chest and unconsciously tried to press herself closer to it. It was a sound that she could find soothing but it would take more than just a few rumbles to get her to calm down. With no way to list off Micah's phone number, Chey could only hope that she would cry herself to sleep, preferably sooner than later.
As Chey continued to sob, she felt herself getting light-headed. Crap. She really needed to calm down soon. Otherwise one of two things were going to happen. She was either going to pass out due to lack of air getting into her lungs or she was going to throw up. Both things might even happy if the world decided it hated her.
Try as she might, Chey just couldn't calm down. Every minute she continued to sob, she became more and more light-headed and it became even more of a struggle to breathe. She couldn't understand why she was fighting it anymore.
"Sor--" she tried to tell Danika with the last amount of air she had left in her lungs. Then she felt herself succumbing to the blackness of unconsciousness.
