Even if Cheryl's boyfriend happened to still have amnesia, she was taking solace in the fact that he was willing to give dating a try. She knew it had to be weird for him, considering how lopsided their knowledge of each other now was, but at least he was trying. With any luck, the amnesia wasn't permanent. Even if it was, however, they were still managing to deal with it. Things weren't nearly as bleak as they had looked a few weeks ago. In an attempt to jog Micah's memory, she'd picked the spot of their first date—an arcade not too far from Puff's Pastries. It was a nice, low-pressure spot, and she might have secretly been practicing her DDR skills. Even if it didn't trigger any memories, Cheryl figured they would still have a fun time.
Unlike their first date at the arcade, however, dinner wasn't going to be some greasy pizza and nachos from their concession stand. Cheryl had asked a few questions around SHIELD, and been directed to a supposedly nice French restaurant in the area. During their last date before Micah's accident, there had been a discussion over the dinner bill which had ended with them agreeing that, since he was getting the current check, she'd get the next one. It had been difficult to get reservations at this place, but Cheryl figured that was a good sign. She had considered the possibility that trying to one-up him for a date that he didn't even remember was ridiculous. Naturally, she was going through with it anyway.
One arm wrapped around Micah's elbow, Cheryl half-pulled him into the arcade. It was still late afternoon, which would give them plenty of time here before dinner. The arcade was just as noisy and crowded as she had remembered, and it was practically covered in teenagers, with a handful of younger kids being watched by their parents. It had been a great spot for a first date, and she figured it would suffice again. This time, at least, Cliff wasn't following them around. Grinning up at Micah, Cheryl asked “So? What do you think?”
