Getting to the Root of the Problem
Personality:
Though it has been tried, no one has managed to curb Jack's prankster ways. All in good fun, he knows, usually, when it's nearing the line between funny and dangerous. This came from a desire to fit in to the new schools he kept going to, and it's never changed, but it does break the tension pretty quickly at first. But again, it's all in good humor and Jack just has a fun, almost carefree personality. He likes jokes and talking and making friends.
As it's already been gathered Jack is a very friendly kind of guy. He knows his limits within his job, but to people that have passed the test, he is incredibly relaxed and trusting around them. He enjoys what ever days off that he gets and genuinely enjoys being in the company of at least two or three other people. The larger the group though, the more fun he can have. In his job, with his friends, for his family, Jack is nothing but incredibly loyal. Almost to a fault. He will defend them every way he can from anything that threatens them. If they have a secret that needs to be kept, he will take it to his grave.
Due to the types of jobs he values and the importance of them, Jack is incredibly hardworking and has a strong work ethic. He will often work overtime, nights, days, without sleep, overdosing on coffee - anything to get the job done. He despises laziness (of an extreme) and pushes his team to do well.
Despite being an overall friendly guy, Jack does have a bit of a short temper at times and can be very aggressive. It's been a problem with fighting or when someone threatens him of his friends. He doesn't give up on a fight either, if, and especially, when he's outnumbered or overpowered.

- Various cousins
Background:
The product of a Marine and a CIA agent, Jack was born in Mannheim Germany while his mother was on light duties. On maternal leave, Ally returned to America with Andrew and they settled down for the next few years to raise Jack. As the first born, Jack was pretty spoilt as a kid and took heavily after his father as a prankster. They started off innocently, like shifting the cooking equipment around the house or putting the VHS tapes in different sleeves. But it was a happy childhood.
When Jack turned five, and thus old enough to go to kindergarten, his mother returned to full time army duty and his father could go away on missions now. That's not how things stayed though. With a military mother came postings to other bases. In one year, Jack, John and their mother moved four times and Jack started really developing his playfulness to break the tension he felt when constantly meeting new people. When he was eight, they finally settled into somewhere more permanently, at least for the next three years anyway.
Constantly being on the move, Jack developed an extroverted personality and once he got talking, it was hard to shut him up. When he got to high school, he calmed down a little and started focusing on what he wanted to do when he graduated. He went through many decisions, from an astronaut to a pilot. At sixteen, his parents started getting him pilot lessons and while he enjoyed them, it wasn't what he wanted to spend his life doing. For the last two years of high school, he did stunt work with cars, skydiving, shooting, horse riding, he even did two weeks at a law firm. He couldn't see himself doing any of those things for ever.
In his final year, before midterms, a few of his friends decided to go to a career meeting about the military. Jack followed along and turned out to be the only one seriously interested in it. He knew his mother was a Marine, so she would be happy about that. Well, it wasn't the Marines, but after graduation Jack was shipped off to basic training.
He got stuck right into the army life. It wasn't particularly hard. He had trained with his mother some times and 5AM wake ups had been a constant throughout his final years of high school. Just before he was set to finish basic, he got a call saying that he had been transferred to the Marines. He was surprised, but it was still the military, and Jack went on to do their basic training for the next six months.
Three months into the Marines and Jack was sent to complete SERE training. When he got back, he was present with a recruitment opportunity with the SEALs. This, he expected, came about thanks to his mother and father. Still, he accepted and underwent the rigourous training. Two years later, Jack emerged as a fully trained SEAL and got his first deployment.
After 16 months being off American soil, Jack returned and celebrated his 21st birthday with friends before he went back to work. He had a month and a half to kill before he had to go back to work and did absolutely everything and anything that he could think of. Three days before he was due to head back, Jack got a visit from a very special someone.
Nick Fury. Jack had never heard of him, nor had he heard of SHIELD. He probably should have, but he had been busy. He was offered a position within SHIELD as an agent. His father seemed thrilled with that. He was given some time to think about it and a month later the transfer papers were handed over and Jack started his new job as a SHIELD agent.

As the mist unwillingly released its hold over the mountain, a serene peace lit up the forested mountains. The birds were the first to wake, serenading those still slumbering with songs of flowers and play. The mist that still clung to the forest leaves slid, slowly, into droplets at the tips of leaves. Streams ran through the mountains at their own whims, but the largest, the clearest, streamed from the tip of the tallest peak as the snow melted in the morning sun. The stream broke in places to bubble into smaller pools along the mountain-side.
The main stream, however, caressed the mountain tenderly before a roaring sound started to rise. Further and further down, the rushing grew, until flecks of white foam sprayed lightly the small foliage that crept stealthily along the banks. When the peak of the gushing waterfall breached, the blue-green of the river sunk deeper until it was almost black before finally, it dropped in a vibrant blanket of white, ending in the largest lake in a pillow of white. A rainbow hung closely to the waterfall, licking the water for its entire existence.
In all, the heavy water flow brought the mountains to life, bringing the sweet scent of flowers through most of its darkest corners. By far, the sharpest smell in the forest was of the lush green pines that watched over their domain with unwavering diligence.
